What are RV walls made of?
One of the most common issues that RV owners come across is damage to the interior and exterior of their RV. Most of the time what happens to the outside is directly related to many issues on the inside. These issues are plenty and vary in severity. It could be a burst water line, a toilet malfunction, a leaky roof or even a tire blow out that has damaged both the inside and the outside. The RV of today is not as well built as your home, based on the fact that they are built with lighter materials for towing and put together in modular portions to speed up the manufacturing process. The wall coverings are not drywall but a thin wood product called Luan, or shiplap type of plywood which does not stand up well to moisture. When the units are built in sections and in some cases joined from the outside before the roof and siding are attached it can cause huge issues when trying to replace parts such as flooring and cabinetry.
What is Filon made of?
Whether your RV has older style siding or the fiber glass or what is referred to as Filon smooth hard wall cover it can be repaired or replaced, but the process has to be done correctly to successfully reseal the walls and roof. The step by step process and the materials used by our licensed/certified and experienced RV technicians will ensure the job is done properly and get you on the road again. The older the unit is the harder it is to match styles and colours or replace certain components to the original.
