Having an Air Conditioning unit in your RV is a big bonus when it’s scorching hot in mid summer. But, it can also turn into a huge problem if you don’t take steps to maintaining properly.
The one thing you as an owner can do to keep your A/C running smoothly is to keep it clean.
Invest in a quality cover to keep over your RV A/C unit when it’s not in use for prolonged periods. But don’t forget to remove it before you start using the system again.
Why is my air conditioner not working in my RV?
If your unit is not cooling during use it could be one of several issues causing the problem. Quite often it is a dirty coil or the fins that need to be cleaned. Check the Shroud for cracks or damage.
It could also be a clogged filter. Other issues that often occur can be due to the unit vibrating loose. So it may need to be re-tightened or you might need a new gasket. The gasket needs to be in good shape to keep water from getting into your unit as well as limiting vibration when the unit is running. This should be cleaned annually or even semi-annually depending on the amount you use your system. Low voltage is another common problem we see when diagnosing A/C issues.
